What is IASTM?

IASTM stands for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization.  The practitioner uses ergonomically-shaped plastic or metal hand-held tools to impart a mechanical force to your soft tissues. It desensitizes the area, releases myofascial restrictions, and increases circulation to promote healing!

IASTM can be especially useful in:

IASTM can be especially effective for treating soft tissue restrictions that contribute to postural imbalances, especially around the shoulders, spine, hips, etc.  Common conditions supported by IASTM research include:

  • Biceps Tendinitis, Rotator Cuff Tendinitis

  • Elbow pain (e.g., Tennis Elbow, Golfer’s Elbow)

  • Wrist and hand conditions (e.g., Carpal Tunnel Syndrome)

  • Hip / IT band issues (e.g., Gluteal Tendinitis, IT Band Syndrome)

  • Knee pain (e.g., Patellar Tendinitis)

  • Ankle and foot dysfunction (e.g., Achilles Tendinitis, Plantar Fasciitis)
